Rev. Corey Close
Fr. Corey Close was born and raised in a Chicago suburb and attended the University of Iowa, obtaining a BS in Computer Science in 2006. He then discerned his calling to the priesthood and joined the diocese of Davenport, studying for two years at Mundelein seminary, and then four years at the North American College in Rome. He was ordained a priest on June 23, 2012, and then proceeded to finish his License in Sacred Theology from the John Paul II Institute for Marriage and Family studies, and returned to the diocese for assignment. He was a parochial vicar at Prince of Peace in Clinton for two years, then in St. Mary's in Iowa City for one year, before being made a pastor of the parishes of Victor and Brooklyn. He then was sent to study Canon Law at the Catholic University of America, obtaining his JCL in 2024, and then returning to the diocese, being assigned as a Judge in the Tribunal, as well as the pastor of St. Alphonsus. He is overjoyed to be here and is looking forward to being at St. Alphonsus for many wonderful years!
